General comments by India on resolutions adopted under Item 3 in the 46th Session of the Human Rights Council (22 February – 23 March 2021), delivered by Ms. Seema Pujani, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, (Geneva, 24 March 2021)

Madam President,

The Council has adopted several important resolutions under Item 3 including the renewal of mandates for some Special Procedures. We are confident that the Special Procedures would carry out their activities in accordance with their respective mandates responsibly with objectivity, neutrality, independence and impartiality, in compliance with the Code of Conduct.

2. The majority of the resolutions adopted have the full support of the Council. We encourage such spirit of cooperation in the Council. Accordingly, we urge States that universally accepted concepts and language should be used in all its resolutions so as to garner universal trust and support. Phrases like “community of shared future” should not be brought in the resolutions as they have not found universal acceptance.

Madam President,

3. We assure you of our full support on all issues of human rights in the Council.

I thank you.
