Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of      Tajikistan at the 49th Session of the Human Rights Council (28th February – 1st April, 2022) delivered by Mr. S. Senthil Kumar, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India (Geneva, 23rd March, 2022)

Mr. Vice-President,

We warmly welcome the delegation of Tajikistan for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 9th November 2021.

  1. 2.The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 80 delegations taking the floor and making 234 recommendations.

  2. 3.Accepting 132 recommendations, including all 3 from Indiaout of a total 234 recommendations that Tajikistan received shows the strong commitment that Tajikistan attaches to the UPR process.

  3. 4.While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Tajikistan for its successful review and wish it success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
