Madam President,

We warmly welcome the delegation of Mauritania for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 19th January 2021.

2. The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 98 delegations taking the floor and making 266 recommendations. We take note that Mauritania has accepted 201 recommendations, including 3 recommendations made by India.

3. We appreciate the constructive engagement by the delegation of Mauritania during the review process and the efforts made by Mauritania to implement its poverty reduction programmes, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, and to achieve the SDGs.

4. While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Mauritania for its successful review. We also wish Mauritania all success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
