Statement by India under Agenda Item 3 : ID with Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development at the 45th Session of the Human Rights Council

Mr. Vice-President,
At the outset, India would like to thank the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development for its first report. We appreciate the recommendations made in the report.
2. India had supported the establishment of the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development and we hope that the mechanism would deliver as per its mandate. We take note of the list of thematic studies in the report proposed to be undertaken by the mechanism and look forward to the reports of such studies. We also support the idea of regular interaction between Expert Mechanism, the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development and the Working Group on the Right to Development so that there is synergy in the work undertaken by the three mechanisms.

3. India would request the Office of the High Commissioner for providing all possible support in terms of resources to the Expert Mechanism so as to enable it to work efficiently as per its mandate.
