General comments by India on resolution adopted under Item 3 in the 43rd (Resumed), Session of the Human Rights Council,  15-19 June 2020, delivered by Ambassador Puneet Agrawal, Deputy Permanent Representative of India (Geneva, 22 June 2020)

Madam President,

          The Council has adopted several important resolutions under Item 3 including the renewal of mandates for several Special Procedures. We are confident that the Special Procedures would carry out their activities in accordance with their mandates.

  1. The majority of the resolutions adopted have the full support of the Council. We encourage such spirit of cooperation in the Council. Accordingly, we would urge all States that universally accepted concepts and languages should be used in all its resolutions so as to garner universal trust and support. Phrases like “community of shared future” should not be brought in the resolutions as it has not found universal acceptance.
